| December 9, 2011 In three days we start delivering the cheer to picket-lines across Ontario! I'd like to update you on some GREAT news since the 2011 Operation Christmas Cheer campaign was launched in November. Last week the Labour Board ended Ming Pao - CEP 87M's strike and ordered arbitration so....there is no picket- line to deliver the cheer too. A tentative agreement was reached on Dec 2 between OPSEU 334 members and management at Kawartha-Haliburton Children's Aid Society. Operation Christmas Cheer is still committed to delivering the grocery gift cards to the members of both these locals and we will work with the local Executive Boards to make it happen. On a less positive note, I just received word that OPSEU 666 in Sudbury has been on strike since Nov 24 and they have been added to our list. Below is the NEW OCC Delivery Schedule. Please note a time change for USW 526L and ATU 1587/113. Everyone is welcome to come out to the picket-lines to spread the cheer : )
As of yesterday, Dec 8th....$39,189 has been raised which means we still need to raise $71,011 within the next two weeks in order to meet our 2011 goal of helping 1175 members in hardship due to strike/lockout. Sounds like a lot and it is but I believe in miracles when "Stand Together" : ) Please help us by spreading the word to all your locals and Labour contacts. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (613) 301-2988. In Solidarity, Cas |
